Easy Online Calorie Calculator

Posted under Diets, SR by Vivienne on Friday 27 July 2007

www.myfitnesspal.com is a new diet and fitness website and it’s FREE! That means we save our money to spend on shoes, or fab new clothes for when we drop a few pounds. Let’s face it, it’s easy to gain weight, especially as we get older. When I got a car and didn’t have to walk to get places, I stacked on the weight. I had to seriusly adjust my eating and exercise habits. Don’t kid yourself that you’ll save anything other than time when you get a car - you will spend more money. There’s maintenance, gas and joining a gym so you can walk on the treadmill instead of walking to the mall!

Anyway this is a great site - they have an easy online calorie calculator. I got so tired of adding up all those calories eaten, calories burned and so forth. This site does it all for you, so you get a good education in what to eat, how much to eat and and how many calories are in what you are eating. It’s definitely the easiest and healthiest way to lose weight

Signing the Line:Contracts and Forms in Virtual Assistance

Posted under Virtual Assistants by Vivienne on Friday 27 July 2007

One of the most important parts of becoming involved with a virtual assistant is making sure that the final offers are clear. This means that all of the contract work and forms should be understood and signed by both sides. This will prevent any problems from occurring later on, and will help to define all of the terms of services that you need.

There are a variety of forms that a virtual assistant may decide to use, all which will make a difference in the type of services that are negotiated between you and the virtual assistant. The first of these that you may see is a retainer agreement. Basically, this will let you know what the work is and will define what the important aspects of the work will be, whether long term or just with a project.

If you are only working with the virtual assistant with one project, you may be looking at different forms. Most likely, a per-project agreement will be looked at, which will define the terms and conditions of the project. Most likely, this will be signed once a year, and will be used if you are only using the virtual assistant occasionally.

From this point, you may also be signing other alternative agreements. Confidentiality agreements may be important to consider if you have the virtual assistant working with paperwork in your office. Non-solicitation and non-competition agreements can also be looked over with a virtual assistant. This will ensure that a virtual assistant that only works with you every once in a while won’t go and tell someone else what your business is doing, causing you to be in conflict with competition.

Depending on the type of work you will need from the virtual assistant, you will want to make sure that you have the proper forms to sign. Having the agreements clear and legal between you and the virtual assistant will help you to make sure that everything is done correctly from the beginning to the assistance that you need.

Recreating An Icon—Assembling Your Marilyn Monroe Costume One Detail At A Time

Posted under Uncategorized by Vivienne on Friday 27 July 2007

Marilyn Monroe is one of the most iconic Hollywood movie stars of the fifties and sixties.  The inspiration for the phrase “Hollywood glamour,” her sex bomb look was immortalized in many paintings and pictures, such as Andy Warhol’s “Shot Blue, Marilyn” (1964).

These paintings and pictures are often the source of inspiration for modern fashionistas, whether they are looking to create their own Marilyn Monroe costume, or simply to imitate her style for their own special event.  The key to creating the perfect Marilyn Monroe costume, however, is in the details.

Dressing The Part

The first element of the Marilyn Monroe costume is the dress.  The star was well known for the fabulous gowns she wore when attending premiers or events.  Typically, Marilyn Monroe was seen in either ivory or red gowns.  Whatever the color, all of the gowns were sexy, curve-hugging, and stunningly cut.

Jewelry was also a major part of Marilyn Monroe’s image, and thus is an important part of any Marilyn Monroe costume.  Diamonds were the diva’s best friend, but for a costume fake diamonds will suffice.  Try wearing a pair of diamond chandelier earrings to achieve a classic Marilyn look.

The Hollywood diva was also well known for her high heels.  For a Marilyn Monroe costume, many people choose to wear metallic sling backs in order to best achieve the Marilyn look.

Don’t Forget The Make Up!

Make up was a key part of Marilyn Monroe’s identity.  The star was well known or her sultry red lips, her fabulous false eyelashes, and her stunning blue eye shadow.  You can easily recreate this look with modern make up found in any drug store.  If you are willing to spend more money, you could even go to a professional make up artist and have him or her recreate the Marilyn look for you.

Marilyn Monroe was easily distinguished by the large mole she had on her left cheek.  This mole became a part of her classic image, and no Marilyn Monroe costume would be complete without it.  Use a black lip or eye pencil to recreate the mole as a part of your costume.

The Star Of The Show

Whether you are attending a Halloween party or a formal gala, the Marilyn look is never the wrong way to go.  A Marilyn Monroe costume will accomplish what Marilyn herself was well known for—making you the center of attention!

Atkins for Dieting

Posted under Diets by Vivienne on Friday 27 July 2007

Most people around the world by now have heard of the Atkins diet. It has been one of the most highly touted and highly controversial diets of our time. Those who love it have nothing but great things to say about it but those who are critical are not shy about their opposition either. The largest criticism when it comes to the Atkins, or low carb diet would be the near absence of whole grains, which are considered the cornerstone to a healthy diet by many.

Dieting with the Atkins diet involved eliminating a large degree of carbohydrates from your diet. In the past there hasn’t been as much of an emphasis on fitness and exercise with the Atkins diet as there seems to be currently. This is good news however as an active fitness regime is as essential to successful weight loss as cutting calories and in this case cutting carbohydrates.

You should take great caution that you are getting accurate information when it comes to Atkins dieting if this is something you are considering in order to meet your fitness and weight loss needs. There is a great deal of misleading and incorrect information that is floating around out there when it comes to the Atkins diet and weight loss plan. First of all, weight loss is the direct result of burning more calories than you consume. It doesn’t matter how many or how few carbs you enjoy or deny yourself during the day if at the end of the day you’ve consumed a few thousand calories too many.

The notion that you can eat anything you want during the day as long as there are no carbs is simply incorrect. Calories still put on the pounds whether you are using the Atkins plan for weight loss or not. That being said there are some interesting insights in this diet and a good man of the foods that are eliminated are those that have the most complex sugars for the body to dispose of. For this reason there are many who have followed the honest to goodness plan to tremendous results.

If you are considering dieting with the Atkins plan you should realize that this is a lifelong commitment in order to achieve the maximum benefit of the plan. There will be lesser restrictions as you reach the maintenance phases of the plans but you are making a conscious decision to pretty much sacrifice a good deal of the carbohydrates that many of us have enjoyed throughout our lives. This is a concept that is much easier said than done over an extended period of time and especially in a society when most of us cannot commit to a mate for that long.

At any rate, dieting with the Atkins plan has produced results for a good deal of people around the world. The news of these results has made it one of the most talked about, tested, and tried systems for dieting on the planet and many people have mixed reviews. Those who love it and feel that it is effective are enthusiastic in its support though those that are honest will admit that you do feel as though you are sacrificing a good deal for the sake of your dietary needs. Those who hate it hate it, and there is nothing that is going to change their opinion. The only way to know for sure is to try for yourself.

How to meet guys online.

Posted under SR, dating, sponsored by Vivienne on Friday 20 July 2007

Everyone meets through online dating these days.  It’s so much safer and easier than meeting random guys in bars or in the supermarket.  You have the chance to get to know something about the guy before you start to date him.  I alwasy ask him where he works and make a phone call asking for him to check out that he actually does work there.

SUre, years ago there was a bit of a stigma attached to online dating, but everyone does it now becuase it’s easy and you can meet more guys in one night online than you can in a month of going out, plus if you use a free dating site like www.justsayhi.com it doesn’t cost you anything - no forking out for taxis, cover charge or drinks - and I can do it in my PJ’s.

Taking the Next Call:Virtual Assistants as Administrative Assistants

Posted under Virtual Assistants by Vivienne on Friday 20 July 2007

Your schedule is busy and hectic. Not only is it busy, but it is becoming even more stressful. You have fifty things to do in one day, but most of the time, these are interrupted by talking on the phone or having to take in service calls. Happy with the problem, you decide that it is time to expand.

In your expansion, you look at the option of hiring an administrative assistant. However, this takes paperwork, the need to have someone in an office space all of the time, and complicated factors, such as payroll. An alternative that seems to be more effective is a virtual assistant. By doing this, you will have the ability to get all of the administration taken care of, without having to worry about hiring an actual employee.

The ability to use a virtual assistant as an administrative assistant is as simple as making sure that there is an understanding of the vision of your business. A virtual assistant will be able to take in all of the calls that you need, answer e-mails, send faxes, and do any type of secretariat work that you did. They can also do some of the simpler tasks, such as keep track of appointments and pick up the mail so that you don’t have to worry about it. This way, you don’t have to worry about any of the administrative needs and can simply focus on offering services.

One of the important parts to keep in mind about hiring a virtual assistant as an administrative assistant is that there will be an expectation to create a partnership. This is because the virtual assistant, while working remotely, will be working continuously with you. This is an important thing to keep in mind, especially if you are looking for administrative duties that include more personal needs, such as handling reservations and appointments.

If you want to take out the small stuff for your daily schedule, then finding a virtual assistant is a good key. This will allow you and your business to take a step up without the problem of being scattered because of the lack of time. If you want someone who will offer you the best of an office without an office, a virtual assistant is the one who can put in the paperwork for you.

With New Movie Release Spiderman Costumes Experience A Rise In Popularity

Posted under Uncategorized by Vivienne on Friday 20 July 2007

Spiderman is the action figure of the year.  Super Heroes seems to cycle through superhero season, each one changing places in popularity about every four years.  In our household I have noticed that Batman began the century following the release of Batman Begins, followed by Superman and the release of Superman III and now Spiderman has the commercialized world enthralled in yet another thriller.  If things go as I predict, next year is Hulk’s year.  Those are the four main Super Heroes in the wonderful world of little boy action heroes.  The Fantastic Four and the Justice League are also popular but do not maintain the high level of popularity and loyal following the top four.  Just as popular as the Heroes themselves is the opportunity to pretend that you are a Super Hero.  If your little Hero has decided upon a Spiderman costume this year, don’t despair it is easier that you think.

Creating Your Own Spiderman Costume

If your child has his or her heart set on being Spiderman this year and you haven’t the heart or the money to buy yet another Super Hero costume, consider making your own Spiderman costume at home.  While not the easiest of Super Hero costumes to create, with a bit of creativity, it can be done.

Spiderman’s costume is blue and red with black spider webs drawn on the red fabric.  The basic costume is best if you use light to medium blue sweat pants and shirt.  A fabric store can provide inexpensive red felt with which to make a collar, belt and red boot covers that can be held onto the child’s shoes with Velcro.

It will also be necessary to purchase red mittens and a black permanent market preferably poster board size felt tip for drawing all the web upon the red felt and gloves.

How To Create The Spiderman Costume

The blue sweat suit shirt will be the base that the red panel and collar will be attached to, forming the shoulder, chest and arm area on the Spiderman costume that will show the spider webs and bright red contrast with the blue.  Remember to draw a large black spider on the check of the costume, right in the center of the child’s chest space.  The red gloves must also have the web design drawn upon them.

If your child wants to have a Spiderman costumer mask, there are many costume and online retail markets that can provide that item in a single sale.  However, if your child would rather have his or her face painted, a simple face paint kit can do the trick.  Be sure to locate a picture of Spiderman prior to completing your child’s costume to insure that you get the correct image.  If you want to add a bit of excitement, add red colored gel to your child’s hair and comb it straight up (if it is short hair) for an added effect.

The Dieting Mind Set

Posted under Diets by Vivienne on Friday 20 July 2007

When it comes to dieting, far too many people set themselves up for failure before they even begin the process. They literally dread going on their diets and before they start the process are planning their mishaps along the way. Sad to say but true, far too many would be dieters are planning their first Rocky Road mishap while eating their last bowl of Rocky Road before the big event.

I have no idea why we tend to do this to ourselves but it is something I see in dieters everywhere. The far too popular notion is that one must binge on the foods most loved and enjoyed before beginning the dieting process because these things must be completely eliminated in order to shed those unwanted pounds. If you are honest with yourself, nothing could be further from the truth. Moderation is simply a concept that many of us are loathe to embrace.

You must change your way of thinking about food and your personal enjoyment of food in order for any diet you embrace to be successful. Food isn’t the enemy. And that is something that not enough people really understand. Even the ‘tasty’ foods aren’t the enemy. The enemy is your personal inability to properly portion the foods you eat. The problem is that the vast majority of us eat the wrong foods far more often than we eat the right foods. This is where the problems lie.

Our bodies need the nutrients we are lacking by not eating the five servings of vegetables and three servings of fruit each day that we should consume. Our bodies know that something is missing and we feel hungry or deprived. If we were actually consuming the proper balance of fruits and veggies each day we would find that we were far less likely to feel hungry and desire those foods that aren’t as healthy. This means we would be much more likely to enjoy them in moderation as they should be enjoyed.

Portion control is another problem that we have. We live in a society of “up selling”. Super sized fries and empty calories by the gallon of your favorite cola are offered with almost every fast food meal that can be bought. You must learn to say no to these things and avoid situations in which you may feel tempted to partake in these up sized orders.

To be truly successful when dieting you need to embrace the process as building a healthier you rather than depriving yourself of something. Do not think of your weigh loss plan as something negative but rather a positive force in your life to make changes for the better. When you have negative thoughts do not direct them at your diet. When you feel deprived remind yourself that you are depriving your bones of carrying around that excess weight. Remind yourself that you are depriving your wardrobe of those bulky clothes that are designed to hide the bulges. Remind yourself that you are depriving your body of years of bulges and bringing back the body of your youth.

Do not get so caught up in the dieting process that you forget to enjoy some of the goodies that life has to offer. Watching your weight and counting your calories does not mean that you can never go over your allotment. The goal however is to find balance. If you learn to portion your food correctly, indulge in moderation, and incorporate enjoyable calorie burning activities into your daily routine you may be amazed at the results.

Dieting for weight loss and health is only depriving if you allow it to be. If you cannot control yourself when it comes to indulging then by all means avoid indulging. However, if you can learn to incorporate those small treats into your routine in moderation and burn those extra calories as well, then you should find yourself a much happier and more successful ‘dieter’ than you have ever managed to be in the past.

D.I.Y. Manicure

Posted under Uncategorized by Vivienne on Wednesday 18 July 2007

You’ll need:

A bowl (big enough for your hands to fit into)
Cotton balls or pads
A cuticle stick
Cuticle cream
Hand cream
Nail clippers
Nail file
Your favourite Opi Nail polish colour
Base and top coat
Nail polish remover
Paper Towels
Soap
Towel
Warm water

Remove any old polish with nail polish remover and cotton, then wash your hands with soapy water and dry.

Use clippers and a nail file to shape your nails. When you file don’t saw the file back and forth because it will weaken nails. Instead, start at one edge and move across the top in one motion, aming for a bevelled edge.

Fill a bowl with warm water and add hand cream. Soak your hands in it for at least five minutes.

Dry your hands with a clean towel, then lay your hands on top of a paper towel on a flat surface.

Dab  each of your nails with cuticle cream and rub it in.

Don’t ever cut your cuticles as it can lead to infection. Instead, use a cuticle stick to gently push back your cuticles.

Rinse your hands in the warm soapy water and pat dry.  Apply hand cream. Let it absorb for about five minutes before wiping away the excess.

Apply a base coat to each nail and let it dry for at least two minutes.

Apply two coats of Opi nail colour, waiting one minute between coats. Paint your nails in three strokes: one on each side and one down the middle.

When the polish has dried, apply a layer of top coat. The longer you leave your nails to dry, the less likely it is that they’ll smudge.

Advice on Pay Day Loans

Posted under SR, sponsored by Vivienne on Monday 16 July 2007

We all know what it’s like to be a bit short before payday.  Do you need a cash advance? You’ve probably heard of pay day loans , but do you know how they work?

The first step is to complete an online application that includes your personal information, where you work, your bankding and financial information, and personal references - people who know you and can be used as contacts in case the pay day loans company can’t reach you at the contact details you used on your application.

As long as you have been in your job for at least three months, you earn at least $1,000 a month in that job, that your checking account has been opened for at least three months, you will most likely quality for a pay day loan to get you out of a tight patch.  You will probably also need to show current bank statements and paycheck slips.  Some payday loan lenders also look at how many insufficient fund charges you have on your bank account over the last month - another good reason to stay in the black! - and any other outstanding pay day loans you have at the time of application.

Even if you have no credit, bad credit or have had a bankruptcy in the past, cashadvance-fast.com can probably still help you.  It’s a discreet, private way to help yourself financially because pay day loan lenders don’t need credit bureau checks.  They use Tele-Check to confirm your personal, employment, banking and lending information only, so make sure you  answer the questions truthfully or the application may be declined.

Once you have been approved, you will get an email to let you know.  The payday lender will determine the amount of the payday loan to be lent - usually an amount between $100 and $1500.   Then you just print out and sign a copy of the contract which will tell you the full loan, amount, the loan fee and the terms of the loan.  Just bear in mind that fees can be around $20 per $100 borrowed, so a payday loan is good in an emergency (and we all have them - car problems, sick pets, trips to the ER) but it’s not a replacement for good financial management.
